The Old Sheds
Concord Friends Meeting Graveyard
827 Concord Road
“When anyone felt moved to speak, he or she stood and made a short speech. Sometimes during a service several persons would speak in this manner, while at other services no one spoke. The service lasted for an hour and during that entire tine not a word might be spoken by anyone“ (Hannum, p. 60).
The sheds behind the Concord Friends Meeting House could be the old saddle house where horses would be tied up during a meeting. This photograph was taken in the middle of the Concord Friends graveyard.
While the sheds may no longer stand, the quiet and simple Quaker gravestones, a testament to the enduring legacy of the Quaker community, continue to grace the site.
