“Mother and Father occasionally went to Quaker Meeting in Concordville on Sunday morning, and once in a great while I went with them. At that time the Meeting room was divided by a low partition, the men sitting together on one side and the women on the other side, with the Elders on a long bench in the front facing the congregation” (Hannum, p. 60).

The Concord Friends Meeting House was built c.1728 to replace a smaller log structure. The Concord Meeting was established in 1688, and it is one of the oldest Quaker meetings in the state. The meeting house was used as a field hospital during the Battle of the Brandywine in the American Revolution. This building is also a contributing resource to the Concordville Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. The meeting is still active today, and the building is also used for a Montessori school.
