“The farm consisted of 68 acres when Father and Mother settled there shortly after their marriage on April 3, 1889. The land was part of a tract of three hundred acres originally purchased George Strode from the William Penn Company in 1682” (Hannum, p. 2).
Dr. Hannum was born at this farm in 1890. Dr. Joshua Eyre Hannum’s uncle (also named Joshua Eyre Hannum) and aunt owned this farm at the time of the 1924 Hannum photo tour They operated the farm on 68 acres of land at the turn of the century. Dr. Hannum described this farm and home extensively in his memoir. The Samuel Hannum House, as it is known, was built c. 1800 and features several later additions. The exact build date is unknown.
The farmhouse and barn are extant today and used as a private residence. They sit on 4.52 acres of land.
