The Hill Top
William Peters - Charles Johnson House
101 Valleybrook Road
“He [Charles Johnson] operated two mills that stood side by side on the bank of Green Creek, on the road from Chelsea to Chester Heights, at the bottom of the high hill on top of which the house was located, a flour and grist mill and a saw mill” (Hannum, p. 87).
The Peters—Johnson House is seen here from the bottom of the Valleybrook Road hilltop, where it sits stoically. William Peters Jr. originally owned the property, which passed to Charles Johnson and his family in the late 1800s. The house is extant today.
