“This section of the country where our farm was located must have been a frequent battleground of warring Indian tribes because of the large number of arrowheads Father found in the fields. For some unknown reason he seemed to have more luck in finding them than anyone else in the neighborhood. He could not account for his good luck, for he often remarked that he never searched for them. He simply picked up those he saw as he was plowing or tilling the soil. His collection finally consisted of several dozen which Mother kept in a small, round willow basket” (Hannum, p. 42).

Clarence C. Pyle owned this farm of 104 acres during the 1924 tour. The Thomas McCall – Reese Pyle House was built c. 1814 with an addition built in 1890. The farmhouse still stands today, but the land acreage has reduced from 104 acres to 10 acres over the last century. The property still has considerable open space, which suggests what Dr. Hannum saw during his 1924 tour.
