Covered Bridge over Green Creek
Johnson’s Mill Bridge
427 Valleybrook Road area

“What fun we had together … climbing up the arch beams in the covered bridge nearby” (Hannum, p.88).
This bridge was known as the Johnson’s Mill Bridge and was a wooden covered bridge over Green’s Creek across from the Johnson grist mill on Valleybrook Road. The bridge was replaced with an 85’ concrete span bridge in the early 1930s due to the sharp turn onto Valleybrook. The roadway was also lengthened, and grading was corrected. The span bridge still exists today and contains a metal placard on either side, denoting it as “Johnson’s Mill Bridge.”
