Willows Along Green Creek
70 block of Concord Road

“There were no poisonous snakes in that section of the country even in the woods, no doubt because the country had been settled for so many decades. We did have several varieties of harmless snakes, mostly of small size, except the large black snakes which were quite common” (Hannum, p. 22).
This bridge carries Concord Road over Green Creek at the bottom of a hill just below the Pickaninny Home. The landscape looks relatively the same, with trees and shrubs growing along the creek bank – the perfect home for snakes!
